Nancy's Surprise 60th Birthday Party!!

My mom turned 60, and we held her surprise party at the Sanctuary Bar in Utica, NY.
It took some tricky planning, as mom usually knows everything, and I thought for sure she had us figured out.

After looking at the photos, I am definitely sure she was surprised.

I love the look of shock on her face.

Thank you Michael for the great shot of mom and I

The food was fantastic, pulled pork, fried chicken, potatoes, kielbasa, and salad!!

Jess did an awesome job with setting up the tables and making the invites!

Rodney Dangerfield even showed up.  Back from the grave!!

It was great to see my dad laughing and having a good time.

My father had them make a sign for the "Fund Raiser" they were supposed to be going to for the House of Good Shepard.  He even had fake tickets made up for the night's event.

I had the amazing opportunity to shoot my first concert on November 2nd, 2016.  I had been wanting to shoot a concert for a while, and had been going to more shows this year (Lindsey Stirling, Post Modern Jukebox, and this show at Upstate Concert Hall).  My significant other, Michael, had brought up trying to get a photo pass for the Frank Turner show.  I reluctantly said no for a while, until one day, I figured.. What the hell.. the worst I am going to get is a no.

I emailed Upstate Concert hall to see if they were able to give me the OK to photograph the show, they could not, but told me to contact Frank's tour team.  I emailed the first email address I could find, which, to Michael's belief, turned out to be Frank Turner himself.  Stunned and amazed, and about to cry of excitement, I called Michael as soon as I could to let him know of the news!!

Long story short, here are some of my favorite photos of the night:

The show started off with the opener, Will Varley.  He was quite the entertainer, and although I had not heard his music before, I will definitely see him live again.  He was a great singer and very, very funny

Love this shot of Will smiling.

He really got the crowd singing along with him.

Up next was the band The Arkells.  They were also new to me, but I fully enjoyed watching them play.  They have some very catchy songs, and reminded me of a mix between Walk the Moon, and Foster the People.  A really great, energetic band based out of Canada.

Max, the lead singer has SO MUCH energy!!

Next was one of my favorite singers and his band, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls.
I had been so excited for this show since early in the year, and to be able to photograph it was such an honor.

Its always great to see performers looking happy onstage.  I feel like this photo shows how content he is while performing.

Love this one of the bass player, Tarrant Anderson

This is one of my favorites.  I love the energy and the colors here.

The guitarist, Ben Lloyd

Thank you, Frank, for giving me this opportunity.  It is one I will not soon forget, and I look forward to seeing more of your shows.
Thank you also, to Michael Einarsson, who supported me, and stood in the crowd while I was photographing the show.  Thank you for encouraging me to follow my dreams.
